On Winning, Losing and Being a Di*k

I’m not supposed to swear in this medium because it could be construed as being offensive and is probably bringing the profession to ‘disrepute’.

But, it’s very important to me to investigate this philosophy that some people seem to have which is a default setting of being a di*k (and I’m only using that word with an asterix in it so I don’t have to drop a C bomb).

So, let me explain what I mean.

For some people, their only response is 0-60 in 2 seconds and result in driving their car into a wall.

I subscribe to the ‘Chris Barrow’ism’ that all problems exist in the absence of a good conversation.

I absolutely believe it’s possible, in almost all cases, to come to some sort of accommodation which is reasonable.

I would always try to go down that route in the first instance.

The interesting thing though is there are some people that exist who just go straight to di*k.

So, they pull out a hammer and start hammering, instead of first taking a breath and starting to speak.

The funny thing about this though is if you try my suggested approach and it doesn’t work and you don’t get your way, you’re generally still friends with people.

If you go straight to di*k and you do get your way nobody likes you, and if you don’t, still, nobody likes you.

In the long run the di*k loses whether he wins or loses, in the long run the other approach wins both ways because other opportunities will still exist.
