Not number 1

The worst number in business is 1.

1 customer.

1 supplier.

1 product.

The risk of falling into a pattern of 1 is that the 1 will no longer be around.

For years in my profession of dentistry I had a single customer (the NHS) and now it’s becoming clear that, that customer might be disappearing in many aspects of our work.

Many of us never saw our patients as customers at all but mainly problems to fix for the single customer that we had.

For our paymaster.

In the same way that if you send all your dental laboratory work to one lab or you only do a single type of treatment relying on one source of payment is fine until it isn’t.

It’s why we succeed better in the world of connection.

Connected to more patients, connected to more people whose services we need in order to do our work and connected to more education to allow us to expand and diversify our skills into areas beyond their original core ideas for the benefit of everybody inside our business and outside.
