Noise cancelling headphones

Some of the most successful people I see now, some of the ones who are as content as they can be in their lives, are the ones who can limit the noise.

It’s like they have noise cancelling headphones on.

Nowadays we are bombarded left, right, back and front with information, opportunities and offers for the next big thing or more happiness than we think we already have.

This is inflation at its very worst. There is no new social media platform that’s going to make it better. There’s no new spam software that’s going to get you more customers. There’s no new ad word formula or price to pay that’s going to drive your business.

Things are going full circle I believe. People are looking for space. They want gaps in the noise. They want simplicity. They want peace.

It’s why Headspace – the app on your phone for meditation – has millions and millions of people subscribed. It’s why Yoga is big. People have had enough.

People have had enough of having to check Facebook first thing in the morning, then Twitter then Instagram then Snapchat then emails. They’ve had enough of their phones pinging incessantly all day.

The clever ones were definitely on this earlier, they saw it coming.

I have a daughter from the Instagram generation, a second daughter from the Snapchat generation and a son who may well be from the generation who doesn’t want a mobile phone. That would be an interesting business prospect wouldn’t it?
