2 things I have learned about personal communication.

  1. Embrace the silence.

Whenever you ask a difficult question, wait for a reply.

This works extraordinarily well, in all circumstances and if you practice it, it becomes a weapon. A tool to get to the bottom of things.

2 ears, one mouth, listen twice as much as you speak.

  1. “How are you?” x2

When you want to know how someone is, ask them “how are you?”, when they say fine, then ask them, no, really, how are you? and wait.

At least 50% of the time, it will provoke a more detailed and honest response.

A way to get to the bottom of things that are going on.

In a world where everything is measured and date it as king, It is very hard to put a number on compassion.
