… It’s toxic in both directions.
If you’re being over optimistic you count the good things twice, that’s the person who promises to buy something from you and then buys it from you and you count the number on two occasions (that’s disastrous).
Second is in the negative way though, "omg there have been so many of these bad things happen" and then reviewing them again and double counting them again.
Things are probably not twice as good as you think but they’re probably not twice as bad as you think either.
