20 years ago, when emails were new, the ability to cc someone into an email was legendary.

The ability to bring someone else into the conversation through a fast electronic medium without having to walk to another office or send a letter or make another telephone call was stunning.

Before, the clever people were using fax’s and faxing twice so the cc email changed the landscape entirely.

Fast forward to today and the use of cc in an email is now becoming synonymous with companies that are moving backwards quite quickly.

The ability to communicate with your team or even with external people in different ways which are faster and easier and much, much more effective shows that the people who are cc’ing into emails regularly are stuck in 20 years ago.

It also, often, demonstrates people who work within a culture that abdicates responsibility.

This is amplified even more by the ‘reply all button’.

I Basically refuse to even read an email which is part of a 'reply all' chain and almost all of the time delete an email that I’m cc’d into because if it’s important enough to tell me you’ll email me directly.
