The rise of Chinese investment

I read an interesting article when I was in the Co Op the other day (obviously not buying the newspaper, just reading it then buying soup for my kid's lunch!) many people in Britain are starting to complain and become concerned about the level of Chinese investment in public services. If you were to read 'The Bone Clocks'  by David Mitchell you will be introduced to the concept of Chinese investment in Hinkley our nuclear power project; it's staggering that nobody thinks this might be sinister.

The bottom line though is this - when the investment comes in people take the money and then complain later. Very similar to what dentistry as a whole has done with the corporates. We have watched our colleagues and our Principals (in my case) sell out to the highest bidder. It will probably be alright for them as the money they've received from selling their practices will allow them to buy health care wherever they want but for the rest of us left in the system it doesn't look all that clever at present.

As a society though we took the Gold from the highest bidder and at present will reap the rewards of that.
