Publicly displaying your beliefs or your ethics is a double-edged sword.

On the one hand it allows you the ability to attract people towards you who think the same as you, who act the same as you and do the same things you do.

This can be an advantage as a tribe or a group of people alike that are stronger together and everyone can mutually benefit.

The disadvantage is that you must always assume the position.

When the forces of the world drag you in different directions, asking you to be a person that you haven’t been or to do things that you said you didn’t do, then you have to be brave and honest and strong and hold your line.

It’s fine to change your view in the light of new information but not to throw away your principles after you’d assumed the position.
