A fire extinguisher full of values

As people begin to hurtle past you in whatever vehicle it is they choose, to accelerate into their short-termism and fast route to success, no matter how strong you think you are, it creates a fire in your consciousness.

When you lift your head up from what you’re doing and you see them hurtling into the distance, it becomes very difficult to convince yourself that you are doing the right thing and living the good life and treading the good path.

What you need in that instance is a fire extinguisher to put out the fire, to let you concentrate on the work that you were doing, to move things along and make it better.

You need your fire extinguisher to be full of values and you need to check your values every time when you see people pass you, who seem to be ‘more successful, better suited, more talented or just generally nicer looking’.

Your values are your values and generally they don’t change.

They certainly shouldn’t alter in the 'face of competition' from people who’s agenda is entirely different, who’s yardstick for success is in a totally different direction and who’s values are at the other end of your value spectrum.
