For some time now its been obvious its time to look at myself from 360 degrees.

The Edward De Bono trick is to step outside of the box, walk around it and get everyone’s different perspective. That said I have tried to self evaluate, alter and change, much more important that I ask the advice of those that I trust and respect, and give me feedback as how I am doing in varies areas.

To this end, I set up a 360 degree appraisal process for myself this year around appraisal time. A copy of the questions are listed below.

This is the first time I have ever done something like this and the purpose is to get some anonymous, honest feedback from key individuals in the practice to see how they think things are doing. The results are in.

Basically its not really surprising I run about too much, my time keeping is terrible, my meeting structures are terrible (that’s the way my head works). But I’m ok in a crises, I think that probably summerises were I am. But there is definitely some distinct areas that I need to work on and improve, this process will act as an ‘audit loop’ for me to either improve the skills and areas that I need to, make them better, or delegate the tasks that I am not good at to other people.

I started to do this at home as well. Its time to have some honest conversations about how much stuff I’ve got in my life and how much value the stuff brings. Not least the training for huge events and other extra curricular activities.

So for those of you reading this I’ll keep you updated as to how this goes and it may be something that you would be interested in bringing into your own circumstances.
