Looking After Your Own

This week I have been given the privilege to be invited to speak at the first ever Bridge2Aid Conference in Birmingham.

For some reason or other Mark Topley, the CEO of Bridge2Aid, has asked me to speak about mentoring and teaching. I am happy to do that with the opportunity to provide others with some insights and headlines about how we have worked with Bridge2Aid over the last few years.

It is my firmly held belief that dentistry should look after dentistry and let the rest of the world look after itself.

This week musicians and artists launched a single for Grenfell, you can watch it here. People will criticise this and Simon Cowell who put it together. There are 50 artists on the track, people will suggest they are only involved in this to promote themselves; but actually they will raise a lot of money for people who have had a devastating experience. There is no point in the guys who are part of Artists for Grenfell trying to do dentistry in Tanzania and there is no point in me being on a charity single because no one will buy it.

It’s horses for courses.

If dentistry looks after dentistry, medicine looks after medicine, lawyers look after the law and musicians look after music we would make a huge lot of difference.

It would be lovely to see some of you guys at the Bridge2Aid Conference and I hope you are there. They’re making a massive difference, but only because people like you engage with Bridge2Aid because you are dentists.
