Why you must place implants on a Year Implant Course

At The Campbell Academy we fully believe in the principles in theoretical academic and practical teaching. We believe in mentoring, we believe in peer collaboration and discussion to assist your development. But in truth, the reason you come on a year implant course (for the majority of people) is to be able to place dental implants. Why would you go on an implant course if you can’t place implants on that course?

If you attended an FA Level 1 football coaching course and had never seen or touched a football, how would that help you to coach football. Worse still, if you had attended a football course to teach you how to take a free kick but all you did was sit in a classroom watching people take a free kick, or discussing the theory of taking a free kick, how would that help you take a free kick?

Implant dentistry is both an academic subject and a practical skill, but as far as the patients are concerned, it is a practical skill, and you must develop the practical skills through application and practice throughout the education that you want to take.

Failure to do that leads to the situation where a huge majority of people who attend a ‘surgical based’ implant course are unable to place dental implants when they leave, because they’re too frightened or too scared of litigation and therefore they stop.

Choose a course that allows you to place dental implants within the course and sets you up with a mentoring arrangement allowing you to move forwards with your practical skills as soon as possible.
