Tanzania - The Trip of My Lifetime Part 2

It's now about 5 weeks before I go to Tanzania.

This is becoming more and more extraordinary as it starts to rise up in front of my vision.

Lots to do, lots to get ready.

Number 1, vaccinations, visas, all of that kind of nonsense.

Let's hope that I've got that sorted. I think I have.

Number 2, training.

I'm pretty fit, for this time of year, probably very fit, and so I think in general, that should be OK if I don't hurt myself beforehand.

Number 3, arrange a collection of all the types of material I need to collect to show people and tell them the story of this, mostly so they just give us money.

And number 4, get money from people to support Bridge to Aid and the extraordinary work that they do.

What I'll be doing next is a WhatsApp group, pretty much for anybody that I know on WhatsApp. It will be shameless, but what I'm going to do on the WhatsApp group is do updates of what's happening and where we're going with constant repeats of the link for the Just Giving page. All you have to do for the WhatsApp group is leave it, absolutely no problem with that whatsoever, I would probably leave someone else's, to be honest, but maybe after I'd given some money if I was happy about the cause.

The most important thing about this trip is to raise enough money to cover the volunteer programme that follows straight after the trip, which is about £40,000.

There are 20 of us on the trip, more or less, so that's 2000 pounds per person to raise £40,000.

I reckon everybody on the trip will be able to raise twice as much as that, and the way things look and the way it's going, I think that is a thing.

The people on the trip will have the most extraordinary experience, cycling from the base of Kilimanjaro across the plains and through the villages of Tanzania, then around the Ngorongoro Crater.

5 days of extraordinary life experience, bike riding, sunshine, and wildlife. Following that, I will fly to Mwanza and meet the guys at the volunteer centre, but most particularly Dr Chico, whose role we have supported for the past two years as Bridge State aid.

Doctor Chico wears Campbell Clinic scrubs daily. I need to take him some more. Wrights have also agreed to help us take some equipment and materials for Doctor Chico to continue to do the job better and better.

I can't wait for this now.

It's quite the most extraordinary privilege and extraordinary thing to do.

I hope you'll help us, though. If we've ever helped you, if you've ever enjoyed this blog, if you've ever been to see us, if we've ever taught you anything, or helped you out in any way.

Please think about giving something for this project. Obviously, all of it goes to Bridge to Aid, and Shaenna and the guys at Bridge to Aid do the most extraordinary work that they will not be able to do unless people like you continue to give.

Thanks.
