On a roll

Two Christmases ago I was struggling to buy a Christmas present for my wife (the woman who has everything!!).

I read a blog post about a startup company called “who gives a crap” who supply eco-friendly toilet paper which is really funky and is a brilliant company model.

I decided to buy her a huge box of toilet paper, which she did seem to think was a slightly weird present!

We got into it and in the end, she re-ordered and re-ordered and now we have a huge box of “who gives a crap” toilet paper stored at home because that’s how it comes delivered.

Checking the website today ,they are sold out in the panic buying madness.

So, let’s think about that for minute and look at the facts.

Even if you’re terrified, I don’t think anyone is going to the toilet more frequently than they were before and therefore I don’t think we need much more toilet paper than we needed before.

So why the panic?

If everybody walked into the supermarket and bought the same amount of toilet paper as they usually bought, then there would be enough for everybody and there would be no problem.

If you have stocked piled toilet paper, then shame on you.

If you reflect on what you’ve done, that is an utterly selfish attitude which has secured not only a lack of supply for other people but to propagate the panic that surrounds this whole virus crisis.

If you continue to stockpile this and stockpile that, you will continue to add day by day and drip by drip to the fracturing of society due to fear.

It doesn’t matter about the toilet paper, we have all got other ways to do that, what matters is that society is so entitled that everybody thinks that they will not be the ones to run out.

Whether you like it or not we are in this together and the only way we get out of it is together.

Remember that bravery is a choice during difficult times and the choice to stockpile toilet paper is cowardless.
