The 'no superstars required' blog is famous (at least in my very small world) as the blog that brought us Maria Fernandez and Beatriz Sanchez to The Campbell Clinic back in the day, some 10 years or more ago.

At the time, I was looking for someone to come and join us who was not a specialist and not an ego, someone who saw the opportunity of developing in an excellent environment with a fantastic team and who could help drive us forward to better places.

I think it's clear that the things that Maria and Beatriz achieved in our clinic are extraordinary. They were not superstars when they came, but they definitely are now.

This no superstar's job has been filled on four occasions at The Clinic, and all of them, in their own way, have been extraordinarily successful both for the clinic and for the individuals involved, taking people to higher levels and better places than they could have imagined before.

And so, we appoint again, another no superstar is required and. I know many people have been waiting for this blog, and people I've spoken to at lectures and different things have been waiting for this to be published. If you ever put your hand up, you'll get this blog sent to you by Marie.

If you're interested in what the job might be, then let me explain.

First of all, this job is designed particularly for people who are in their first year after DFT (but not exclusively so).

It's designed for someone who understands that they would come into the position of what used to be known as a 'senior house officer', someone who works for more experienced clinicians, who observes, helps, assists, and grows their clinical skills moving forward.

The advantage of coming here is that you'll also have your own clinical sessions and access to your own patients. You'll also get access to the Year One Implant Course at The Campbell Academy as part of your job at no cost.

For the 2nd year, you'll get access to the Year Two Implant Course for no cost, and therefore, you'll end up having done Year One and Year Two (at no cost) but with the opportunity to practise your skills and develop as an implant clinician, as a general practitioner, as a dentist, as a researcher, and as a teacher.

Overall, the job will be nowhere near 10 clinical sessions a week. You will shadow me in my work, help me with my admin, and assist me in the stuff that works in a clinical practice, which is complicated and ever-evolving. You'll have some of the other senior clinicians in the practice in their clinical sessions, too, and then you'll have your own sessions, which are mentored and assisted.

You'll become part of that MDT and probably help run it. You'll also be able to access research projects you can be involved in and publish while you're here.

We'll also ask you to help with The Campbell Academy project as part of the team, so you'll probably end up doing some low-level, simple teaching to start with until you find your feet and get your confidence.

In theory, the job is 5 days a week, but it's a healthcare job, so it's really not 9 to 5; it's kind of what the job requires, but it's a brilliant place with a brilliant team where everybody is massively committed to making things better.

There is no way you could come here and stay for 2 years and not be a better version of yourself, a better clinician, a more caring healthcare individual on the other side of that.

What I need from you if you're interested in this job is a CV and a letter of interest. I also need something else, a video or a presentation or a project, something that you can send to me, not too much work, that sets you apart from everybody else who will apply for this job, something that makes me recognise you and remember you.

Remember that I'll never remember what you say, and I'll never remember what you do, but I'll probably remember the way you make me feel.

Closing day is Friday.

The interviews will take place the following week; we will shortlist six people (maximum for interviews). We'll only interview on one day because the interest is massive for this.

It's an extraordinary fixed-term position for 2 years, and a full job description will be available if you decide to take the job and are successful.

Look forward to seeing you then.

If you're interested in the job, the terms and conditions, etc, then just get hold of Lauren here, and she'll let you know before you apply.
