Melting

I melted down a bit yesterday.

I’m not afraid, or scared or embarrassed to talk about it and it only lasted about 12 hours.

It was a combination of things, both the circumstance that we find ourselves in, a patient who felt now was the best time to send three of us at the Clinic to the Dental Complaint Service (I’ve only ever seen the patient for one hour for a chat) and a little bit of comparing myself to other people, who look like they were doing a bit better in a small space for a short time.

I then found myself in situations, trying to make decisions in a position of panic or at least not in the best frame of mind.

As is usually the case in these situations, it takes my wife and the tough love and perspectives that she’s always able to give, to snap me straight back out and onto the right track.

I had to wake up at 5.30 am yesterday morning and then started work, I slept for 8 hours last night and spent time with my family today.

It happens quite infrequently for me but it will happen to all of us, some more often than others.

Everyone needs an outlet, someone to talk to or people to share the load with.

If you’re not melting, you should be helping and once you’ve melted and felt better, you’ll understand why you should be helping more of the time.
