Losing focus on what's most important is entirely natural. When we get into a position of comfort and security, then we push for more. Almost everyone does that.
And so we stretch in a different direction, explore new boundaries and new frontiers, and leave the important thing that allowed us to do that in the first place behind, until it decays and wears and lacks attention.
Then on our journey forwards into these new places, we either go and live in the new place altogether forever, leaving the initial important thing behind, going into a better place, or we look behind us when things aren't working quite the way we thought and realise that we've neglected the centre.
This is not a bad thing; it's a good thing. It's how evolution occurs; it's how growth occurs.
You never get anything different by doing the same, but the pain of growth is difficult. The stretch and return, the focus on the thing that's important, and then the stretch again in a different direction.
That's what an entrepreneur does all of the time, and people think it's easy, but it isn’t
