Fighting status, it's exhausting

Status has always been a thing for humans, at least that’s what the scientists say.

You can look to hierarchies and monkeys and see where the lack of status causes physical and mental deterioration on extraordinary scales.

Monkeys have never had to deal with the inputs that we have to deal with, and we are, after all just double charged monkeys.

One of the biggest problems is that we’re bombarded with status, measurements and the ability to position our self in different status hierarchies every minute of the day.

Status of being a parent.

The status of being a husband.

The status of being a professional.

The status of being an “athlete”.

The status of being a friend.

The status of being a lad and status of being, well.

It’s exhausting.

The only way to avoid utter exhaustion is to try where ever possible to stop comparing and remove yourself from the status game (somebody’s already won it somewhere else anyway).
