Respect is not something you can buy in the Post Office. It is not something that a University can give you with a piece of paper. It is not something you get because you have been elected to chair come committee or other. It is not something you get because you have a job title. It is not something you get because of how much money you make. It is not something you get because of the car that you drive.

It is a fragile thing that you build over many years by doing the right thing and helping people.

It cares not of hierarchy, status or any perceived position of authority.

It is something that is given as a gift by other people to you which should be cared for and protected.

It is fragile, it takes almost an eternity to build but can be smashed to pieces in seconds.

There are too many people who think they have the respect of others and don’t but have unfortunately reached positions, such as those above, without the respect of others.

How does this happen? I really don’t know.

Some of the people who I have the most respect for in the whole world work “for me” and not the other way around.

The guys I have the most respect for, I would happily take a bullet for and I think that is because they know I would take a bullet for them.
