Chris Barrow taught me about buffer days.
It is my understanding that they come from Dan Sullivan from the strategic coach.
In effect a buffer day is a work day, scheduled in with nothing in it, no patients, no meetings, no disturbances if possible. In my experience the vast majority of a buffer day needs to be away from the practice but probably also away from home unless there is nobody there.
It's the day where you sort your shit out, rationalise your lists, get your thoughts in order and move forward.
When I get buffer days it's like a weight is lifted off my mind, it is a total stress relief, clears my thoughts and shows me the way forward. When I lose my buffer days the world closes in around me, my nose gets closer to the grindstone and I can't see the wood for the trees.
Buffers days are perhaps one of the most important tools in business to make a difference.
