Perhaps an appropriate day to talk about bravery and certainly bravery historically.
I have discussed bravery as a concept throughout the blog ever since it started but something was sent to me recently by a local colleague who I know who was aware of the loss that I suffered in the summer when Tim passed away.
Here is a link to an audio clip of Olive Foley speaking at her husband Anthony's funeral after his tragic and sudden death in Paris earlier this year.
I would recommend you listen to this if you're looking for some inspiration or some perspective because I think it represents true bravery.
This is not to say that it is weak to not speak at someones funeral, it's a very personal decision of what someone feels they can cope with or contribute but Olive Foley had a choice to speak or not to speak. To be honest the way she spoke was one of the bravest things i've heard in a long time.
Sometimes we mistake bravery with going into the jungle as a celebrity or driving a racing car really fast but real bravery, the real heroes, are the people that carry their tragedy with them every day yet continue to turn up and continue to do their best.
Lest we forget.
