Regular consumers of the work in these pages will know that from time to time, I post an opportunity that’s been passed to me by someone else, usually a work opportunity.
While I do not want or envisage these pages turning into a recruitment website, sometimes opportunities are pushed my way, and it would be extraordinary for other people to see what they are, and therefore, we talk about them here.
We have had some extraordinary success in linking people together to work in ways which have been massively beneficial to both parties, and we have been delighted to do so over the years. Recently, another such opportunity arose.
This is something quite different, though, from that which we have pushed out before, and for obvious reasons needs to be kept generic for people who might be interested.
And so here it is.
In central London, there is a very famous, well-respected, and really kind and nice clinician who has been at the forefront and pinnacle of implant dentistry for many years, who is soon to retire.
The individual themselves no longer owns the practice that they work in (although they did), and it was one of the very highest regarded practices in implant dentistry.
Our paths crossed only slightly, various times through our careers, but I was certainly aware of this individual, and they seemed to be aware of me.
(Being deliberately vague) I was contacted directly by them recently to let me know that they had sold the practice some time ago and were now looking for the opportunity to finally retire. What they wanted to do was to find a young, enthusiastic, talented, ethical and honest clinician who would be prepared to take on their list and to move into their shoes in a clinical situation that was effectively ready and waiting.
This is someone who is very keen that the patients, the referring dentists, and the ecosystem that they have created are looked after by the right kind of person.
The features above that I listed are the ones that are important, someone who is ethical, who is patient centred, who is honest, who is kind to a team, and able to see the opportunity for what it is and embrace it and be grateful and be humble and act always with integrity in the best interests of the greater community.
The opportunity is quite extraordinary. If I were a young dentist who was implant-trained, at least to some degree, at this stage, I would be looking at this and thinking it should be something for me.
If you are interested in this or want to pass it to someone who is, then the way to get involved in this is to email Marie here with the subject title ‘Interested in opportunity’. I will be able to pass any interested parties on to the individual involved, who will contact people who are appropriate.
If I were you, I would send a CV, a letter or something special to explain why you’re the one.
Chances like this don’t come along very often.
Good luck.
