Who are we going to vote for?

Such a personal thing, such a difficult thing and it seems to get much harder the older I get.

I know that all of this seems like a mess and I am not about to enter into a political discussion here because that is the worst thing that I could do in a blog post.

It came to me the other day. What I am going to do with my vote?

If the election been a bit further, Grace would have been able to vote (her birthday is the 2nd February) but she will not be old enough, yet should be paying attention to this.

Rosie is 16 in April, again she is quite aware of what is going on although has no idea of which way she would vote, was she able to vote.

So I floated the suggestion when I got home after I’d had the idea and I suggested to Alison that we should donate our vote to the girls.

I felt very strongly in the Scottish independence election, but that was an election for the younger generation and not the older generation.

I felt very strongly in fact that the older generation should have probably not been able to vote because the opportunity for change to the country was so profound that it would affect, for decades, the younger generation.

Perhaps this generation is similar, but perhaps all generations are similar.

On the 12th December our postal votes will be counted, but the boxed that will be crossed on the forms will have been advised by our daughters.

Neither of them know at the moment which way to fall, but I think it will make them engage and become informed and I promise that when I have Rosie’s answer, I will cross the box that she says.
