A comprehensive foundation in straightforward implant dentistry — the confidence and competence to begin placing implants in your own practice.
Hear from Colin Campbell on what makes The Campbell Academy different, and why Year One is where it starts.
Over 20 years of teaching, 1,000+ dentists trained, and an ITI-aligned curriculum — delivered the way we believe it should be: competently and ethically.
Stage one of our Curriculum in Implant Dentistry — a structured route toward placing 50 implants a year, competently and ethically.
Three supervised clinical days on your own patients, plus hands-on practicals on models and pig heads.
An ITI Foundation Level Certificate on completion, and a clear roadmap toward the ITI Diploma in Implant Dentistry.
Learn from experienced clinicians within a supportive, like-minded community that stays with you long after the course.
The Year One Implant Course is the first stage of our Curriculum in Implant Dentistry, developed in partnership with the International Team for Implantology (ITI). It gives general dentists a thorough grounding in straightforward implant dentistry — the science, the planning, the surgery and the restoration — built around as much hands-on practice as possible.
We believe practical experience is essential: implant dentistry is a craft of science and art that has to be practised. The course includes work on models and pig heads, three clinical days treating your own patients under supervision, digital mentoring throughout, and a roadmap toward the ITI Diploma.
How the course runs, making the most of the ITI Curriculum, and all the protocol forms, templates and consent. Afternoon: practical ethics and the marketing of dental implants in general practice.
Anatomy and physiology, bone biology and wound healing, biomechanics and osseointegration, dental materials, relevant medical conditions and pharmacology.
Radiographic assessment of the implant patient, using CBCT day-to-day, current guidelines, anatomy, implant planning and reporting scans.
Instruments, flap design, soft-tissue management and suturing, atraumatic extraction and ridge preservation. Hands-on with pig heads and suture pads, plus an introduction to guided surgery and complications.
Patient selection and SAC classification, restorative-driven 3D planning and consent, then diagnostics, implant design and selection, and temporisation.
Implant design (bone vs tissue level), the Straumann drilling protocol, placement and stability — with hands-on placement into models, and an introduction to GBR using Geistlich models.
Bring your own patients and carry out straightforward implant placements under the supervision of our faculty.
Exposure stage, screw- vs cement-retained restorations, abutment and material selection, analogue and digital impressions, and fitting an implant-retained crown.
Communication with the lab, occlusion in implant dentistry, types of full-arch restorations, when to refer, and managing restorative complications.
Continue placing and restoring implants on your own patients under supervision.
Continue placing and restoring implants on your own patients under supervision.
Risk assessment and peri-implant maintenance, mucositis and peri-implantitis, the ITI Foundation Level exam, your next-steps roadmap, and presentation of certificates.
