Thoughts on clarity

In a long running saga, I ordered a new pair of trainers today that I paid a subscription for 2 years ago.

They’re from On and I’ll tell the story later about the world’s first recycled trainers on a subscription.

I asked them a question afterwards by email and the service was outstanding and looked brilliant.

It was easy to leave feedback with 5 stars and I had the chance to leave more feedback by just clicking a few buttons which I wanted to do because it was brilliant.

It looked good, the language was great, it was easy.

In other news, I received an email from my sons’ school today (where I’m a governor in charge of parent and pupil voice).

They were ‘advertising’ the vacant position for parent governor.

They had cut and pasted about 7 paragraphs of extremely small text out of some sort of official school document to explain the process and that was the email encouraging us to apply.

Being a school governor is quite a difficult job and is voluntary and involves evening meetings and a lot of commitment and no ‘thanks’ and therefore if you were trying to encourage people to do it, you might want to make it look as good and inspiring and as nice as possible.

We all have the opportunity to present ourselves in a way that we would like, almost all the time.

It’s usually a good idea to use that choice wisely.
