I saw a patient in the Practice yesterday.

It was a fractured lower left six that had previously been root treated (by us a while ago).

The patient had not had a crown despite advice, and it broke at the start of lockdown.

This patient has been managing dental pain and localised infection through 11 weeks and has had several courses of antibiotics to control this.

We used it to test our new procedures and all looks pretty solid to me.

It was beautiful.

We got the patient into surgery, just chatted, and interacted like human beings (despite the masks), she was so enormously grateful and appreciated that we were sticking our neck out in just a little way to provide healthcare.

We talked for a long time as the local aesthetic took effect about her work, about her daughter and about the stuff at the Practice.

The patient works in Academia and is very interested in the overall aspect of the build project and the property development and I asked if she would bring her students down to see it when things settle down.

She would like to come back for some further treatment, replacing the missing tooth perhaps some other treatment and various other things.

It worked for everybody.

She wanted to exchange money for goods and services, and she did.

We need patients through the door to stay open.

She was delighted with the treatment that she received, and we were more than delighted to be able to provide it.

I’d almost forgotten what that was like.
