Conversations with yourself

(Thanks to Carl Dunstan for the idea for this)

Back to the discussion about a hyperobject from the other day, and how big a problem we face in front of ourselves and how we cannot see the end.

One of the issues related to this is the internal dialogue that we have in our own heads, about how to fix it and the information that we take in to fuel that dialogue.

If all your information comes from disreputable sources, or sources where the emphasis is on the benefit of the provider and not the receiver, then it's going to really fuel your internal dialogue in the wrong direction.

If you take advice and information from people and sites and sources that can give you inspiration and at least some sort of positivity through the unprecedented times we find ourselves in, then your mindset is likely to be better and the better your mindset is, the more likely you are to be able to do something productive to help.

In relation to the hyperobject, you cannot find the solution to this because it's too complex for any of us and even groups of us to understand.

It ebb’s and it flows, it becomes better and worse, but it is so complex that it seems that one little thing can not fix it.

Endlessly watching the news, in the hope for some good news, is an utter waste of time and will only seek to send the internal dialogue in the wrong direction, towards anxiety, fear and panic.

Understanding that the only way to impact on our hyperobject is for all of us to do the right thing, a positive thing and something constructive, this is the first step towards making a difference.

Are we doing as much as we can to protect ourselves and our family, and the community around us? Clearly what you do individually or what I do is almost meaningless, but that’s the point.

Almost meaningless, is not meaningless. It may seem like the things we do are a drop in the ocean but all the ocean is, is a collection of drops.
