So, a satellite campus of a university would be a smaller campus at the university somewhere else.
In Edinburg that would be the King’s Campus where Grace wants to study biology, which is about a 30 minute walk from the main campus in the city centre.
I got an email today to say that Michael Bornstein was moving back from the University of Hong Kong to Switzerland and was joining the faculty at the University of Basel.
I kind of already knew this, but it is just such a bizarre stroke of fortune.
For those of you who follow anything that we do, you will know I am great friends with Michael Bornstein, who is the Professor of oral surgery and with a distinct interest in oral and maxillofacial radiology and was the instigator and one of the educators on our CBCT course at the Campbell academy.
That course is not the compliance course to tick the box to allow you to do things in CBCT. It is a much deeper educational experience (at least we think it is) hosted by one of the world experts on the subject.
For the past few years, he has provided his lectures via an online link from his office in Hong Kong but now he is back in Europe, he will be back again and back at the new site.
Michael has been a really good friend in dentistry, and it is wonderful to see him (we met up in Barcelona this year) and I just want to create opportunities where we can work together more and more.
The bizarre thing is though, that we started to book digital masterclasses next year to work around the new DID course. The DID course is the foundation of Digital Implant Dentistry as far as we see it and the masterclasses add depth to the knowledge.
I have booked three masterclasses this year (well, almost) one is with Vincent Fehmer who is the master technician from the University of Geneva (previously University of Zurich) he is a wizard in digital implant dentistry and technology.
But the other two guys who will be coming to do a digital implant dentistry masterclasses and ITI study clubs are Sebastian Kuhl (oral surgery – Professor) and Tim Joda (restorative) it turns out by pretty much coincidence and recommendation that these two guys are at the university of Basel and so will be next year at the Campbell academy will host masterclasses with Professor Michael Bornstein, Professor Sebastian Kuhl and Tim Joda from the University of Basel.
Perhaps not quite a satellite campus, but getting there?
These guys will present in a purpose-built digital implant dentistry facility and they will provide their ethical and sensible approach to this subject from CBCT to guided implant surgery to digital reconstruction.
This is not “flash-bang” it will not change your practice in a day, it is unlikely to make you super rich.
It might help you unravel the mystery of digital implant dentistry and set you on a path of enjoyment and joy and fulfilment in this subject working with a group of people that think the same way.
Masterclasses are available as a package with a discount (we’ve never done that before) so If you want to come to the three of those because you already have a good grounding in digital implant dentistry then come along.
If you want a good foot grounding in implant dentistry, then come to DID.
If you want to come to all nine days, then let us know and we will see what we can do.
