What is the question?

Sometimes when you're talking to someone, it's one of the most important things in their day, but not necessarily the most important thing in your day.

With that in mind, one of the best things you can do to shorten things kindly and politely is to stop them in their tracks and ask them what the question is.

When someone is trying to persuade you of something, or to encourage you or to sell something, they sometimes want to give the whole of the context that they have in their mind, and usually it's not necessary.

A lot of the time, just ask the question.

This is what I'd like. Yes, I can, or no, I can't.

Makes things much simpler, lets you get on.
