I bought a watch 22 months ago, a posh one; not quite sure how I got sucked into that world, but I did. It was an Omega, Seamaster James Bond, fancy, expensive. I bought it from Goldsmiths because it was handy and convenient, but they've been terrible.
It fell off my wrist twice; the fancy titanium 'save the world' James Bond strap broke.
Goldsmith didn't like it when I went back in, trying to avoid and evade, trying to stop giving me my money back, trying to pretend that I didn't buy the watch from them and that I bought it from Omega (I didn't).
This was a classic example of wholesale versus retail. If you buy some tomatoes from Tesco and you have a problem, you don't take them back to the farmer.
They're trying to bounce me to Omega, they're trying to make me fatigue so that I won't come back, they're trying to get me to buy another watch.
It's been shocking, absolutely shocking - never, ever go to Goldsmiths.
They have my watch now, and my money, and I'm still waiting for the refund.
The thing is, I got sucked into a world I didn't really want to be in, and then I've been taught the lesson, but I won't forget again.
