To Shout

Written by Colin Campbell | 08/08/17 17:00

I do not remember a situation where shouting was effective in changing someone’s opinion.

We all have our red trigger button and we can all be pushed to the shouting situation but I never re call any incidents where someone shouting at me made me feel better about them or see their point of view. David Servan-Schreiber describes conflict resolution in his classic ground breaking book ‘Healing without Freud or Prozac’. You should read that, it’s really good. As soon as the urge to shout starts to rise, turn around, walk away, step aside or get out the room and count to 10. It will give you the opportunity to realise that shouting never works. Incidentally shouting in text or email is the worst type of cowardice. If you think that that is effect in bold YOU ARE AN IDIOT (see what I did there, it didn’t work)
