The space from here to there

Written by Colin Campbell | 18/03/24 18:00

Sometimes, we're here and decide to go there, whatever your 'there' might be.

The problem with the gap from here to there is that it is a dip (or a mountain in Simon Sinek's analogy about the millennial generation).

We romanticise the 'there'; we aim to get there as fast as possible, with the minimum amount of damage or disruption, without any loss or harm, wounds, or scars.

But the truth is, it's almost possible to get to a better 'there' without any of that.

Understanding that the journey from here to there will be difficult and longer than we expect, requiring more investment in time, energy, money, emotion, or pain, is worth really thinking about before we set off on the journey, not because it might stop us from doing it but because it leads to less of the 'I never signed up for this'.

You absolutely did sign up for that when you decided to go from here to there every single time.
