This is the start of a three-part blog series about how to write your laminate to survive life.
By a laminate, I mean something where you’re able to put down your plans, which will lead you to the place you want to go without distraction or deviation.
You can then laminate the plans and keep them forever, so that they will never, ever become tarnished, abused or unavailable for use.
When we get to the third part of this blog post, two days from now, I'll be able to give you a recipe for how to write the laminate and how to put it together but for the first two blogs, I want to set the scene and to tell you one or two stories about the purpose of the laminate and why and how you might go about constructing your own.
The first story is an anonymous story from a friend of mine who has a responsibility for educating large groups of people.
To protect everybody to do with this story I will not even change names, I just won't tell you any.
Imagine the individual that we're talking about is collectively looking after a large group of people, say over 100.
In one of the tutorials or 1-1 sessions with people in that group he meets one of the students for whom he has a responsibility for.
The student confesses to the educator that he feels as if he is the daftest and most stupid person in the whole group.
He feels that everybody else has it sorted and he is the only one that has problems or disconnection.
The genius who is the educator explains to the individual that he thinks that 99% of people in the room are brilliant and one is a dunce, when in fact, the truth is that there are 99 dunces and one genius and the identity of the genius changes on a day-to-day basis.
Clever people understand that nobody has things sorted, not even themselves, but it's okay to continue to move along.
When you get to part two tomorrow, I'll tell you one or two other stories and then we'll all come together in part three when you will have the opportunity to write your own recipe to get things right for the rest of your life.
