The ITI Congress

Written by Colin Campbell | 30/11/17 18:00

I went to my first implant conference in Switzerland in 1999 and was blown away by how advanced everyone there was in comparison to me and how far I would have to travel to get close to that level.

After that though, over the years, I developed significant ‘conference burn out’.

I attended meeting after meeting where I didn’t learn anything and lots of people were ‘showboating’ or generally going through the motions of providing lectures that didn’t change my practice.

That changed a couple of years ago at the ITI UK and Ireland Congress at King’s Place in London.

It was the best implant conference I had been at for years and years.

It was inspiring and practice changing; it was at a great venue with great speakers and was great to meet up with lots of people.

It’s for that reason that I am prepared to give up the blog tonight to promote the next ITI Congress that the UK and Ireland are hosting next year on April 27th and 28th. The programme is fantastic.

It will challenge you and what you think about implant dentistry from a group of people who are hugely ethical and trying to do the right thing.

It won’t be about showboating, it won’t be about one-upmanship; it will just be about trying to make things better for patients, which is generally what the ITI has always been about.

It’s worth noting that the ITI UK and Ireland is a section of a global organization of 16,000 or so members.

This is an enormous animal to try and manage and steer but the UK is held up as a beacon among this as being one of the best sections that the ITI worldwide has.

It’s worth supporting this to keep something good going, but also to improve yourself and meet like minded people who are trying to do things in the right way. The website is here you can register there. It’s cheaper to attend before the 31st January.

Hope to see you there. It should be great (declaration of interest, I have to pay the full fee, I’m not getting anything cheaper to promote this but it’s still worth promoting).
