The Compartment

Written by Colin Campbell | 07/12/19 18:00

I am getting better at this, but I am by no means perfect and could fall on my a*** flat anytime.

The trick is to put things into a compartment, in particular the things that bother or are liable to stress you or effect your relationships with other people.

Pretty much everything that goes on with work (the good and the bad) can be put in a compartment.

Coming home to celebrate successes at work that your family don’t understand is not always the best way to approach things. Similarly and more devastatingly is bringing the bad stuff back.

This is not to stop you discussing with your partner some difficult times, but it is to bring the difficult things home to wreck your family life.

My friend Craig is a high-level head and neck surgeon and he taught me the concept  of the compartment.

When I listened to the tales of what he has to leave at work, it makes my job of putting things into the box seem a little bit easier and it should almost certainly be the same for you.
