Starter for 10

When the world is overwhelming the best thing we can do is to start somewhere.

When the journey is never ending then another step in the direction you want to travel is the only thing you have left to do.

Recently, I’ve been part of sideline discussions about how some of the large corporate dental organisations are trying to repurpose themselves in a better way ‘to attack’ independent and private dentistry (I think they’re probably different).

And so, they’ve decided that their associates should now train, as quickly as possible, in the provision of the products which are the highest yielding ones in that world.

Think clear aligners or aesthetic dentistry (composite build-ups) or implants.

And so, that’s easy isn’t it because you just pick something that you want to make a lot of money at and you train in it and you make the money and then everybody’s happy and you’ve won.

As if that model ever worked for anybody.

Before you change tack entirely on the career that you’ve chosen and the way that you provide it, it’s probably best to start to investigate some options to see whether, in fact, you would like to be where you are heading.

We identified that many years ago when we were setting up educational courses and we found (way back at the start of the noughties) that the best way to introduce people to implant dentistry was to run a short and inexpensive restorative course for straightforward implant dentistry to see if people liked it and if they wanted to go further.

Just because it was a restorative course didn’t mean it was restricted to people who wanted to provide restorative aspects of implant dentistry but it’s definitely the best place to start ‘shall we start with the starter sir?”.

Then the world changed, and people found it harder to travel to destinations and hotels and those types of places to do these hands-on courses that lasted 2 days.

And so, we developed an online implant restorative course which runs over 4 weeks of content (together with a week at the start for onboarding and 1 at the end for offboarding) and is based around projects and Zoom calls and videos and hands-on material that we send to you so that you can see whether, in fact, implant dentistry is something that inspires you or whether it isn’t.

It’s inexpensive for a course with so much content and it’s really accessible because you can do it after work or before or at lunch time or just take the time off of work to do some education.

It’s a brilliant starter for people who think they might be interested but who don’t want to spend a sh*t ton of money on a year-long course and it’s produced some of the best young delegates that we’ve seen on our implant pathway at The Campbell Academy.

The next one starts again early next year, and all the details are here, and you can contact us here and if you would like a chat with any of us to see whether this might be the start of a process that you’re interested in then please contact us.

Maybe see you there.
