Team building is a road (one that you’ll never get to the end of)
It has many bumps and potholes and diversions and interesting things to look at which are not heading in your direction.
Someone wants to leave because they have a better opportunity elsewhere… bump!
Someone is pregnant… bump!
Someone is sick… bump!
Someone is off the boil… bump!
Someone is distracted… bump!
Someone is not what you thought they were… bump!
You can’t avoid the bumps, it’s impossible. The only way you could even begin to do that is not to have a team at all and let’s not go there.
You have to ride the bumps.
You never know what the solution is until you know what the problem is and most of the time, the solution is actually better than the thing you were persisting with in the first place.
