Practical kindness

I think we all agree that being more kind to each other would be a good place to start with anything.

There are different types of kindness, but practical kindness is perhaps the greatest.

My wife, Alison, understands this instinctively and beautifully.

In the past when people have been in trouble, she’s just taken them a meal.

Randomly turning up with food either ready to eat or easy to cook so that it just takes one little thing off their mind in times of difficulty.

We’ve done that loads of times and I’ve often rolled my eyes and wondered what difference it would make.

It was only when someone did it back to me that I realised what a beautiful thing it is.

We should all be kinder but probably not the kindness that gets us recognition from anyone else.

Probably the practical kindness that people rarely ever see but makes some of the greatest differences in the world.
