On saving my life

Written by Colin Campbell | 16/01/20 18:00

When I watch Callum play football on Saturday mornings and I watch my own team (The Mighty Mustangs) play on Sundays, I think of nothing else but what is in front of me.

Then I walk my dog and I try to listen to books, but within a short period of time, I turn my headphones off and I walk and look, listen and think.

When I walk to work it is the same and when and if I get the chance to ride my bike outside, it is the same again.

It turns out that these things are mindful and the basis of “my mindfulness practice” I never look at my phone and I watch football and I never ever look at my phone when I coach football.

I never look at my phone when I walk my dog or walk to work and I never look at it when I am on my bike.

Creating a situation where you are undisturbed and uninterruptable is the first step in the basis towards happiness away from the madness of modern life.

I realise that it is not easy, but it is there and the opportunities are in front of our faces.

We and It would all be better if we took a little bit more time to do that.
