Not for us ties in with the worst number in business.
The worst number in business is one.
One customer, one supplier, one staff member, one piece of equipment etc etc etc.
‘Not for us’ is a concept where if you have a broad base of customers, a broad base of suppliers or a broad base of contacts, it’s ok to say to someone that it’s ok not to be here because you don’t share the same values with them.
It’s one of the tricks that you need to have in place in order to be able to stick to your values because if you’re compromising your values all the time because you have a narrow customer base no one will know what your values are.
When people don’t know what your values are, they’ll stop coming because they will go somewhere else where they’re clear what the values are.
We’ve seen this many times in our place where people have been upset because they weren’t receiving something they thought was “included in the price”.
People don’t get 24hr access to anybody.
We’re allowed to have holidays and we’re allowed to have time off with our family and we don’t sell around the clock access to 1 person without condition to anyone.
We provide an exceptional service to our patients, but they don’t own us.
When you find yourself in a situation where you’re so clearly at odds with someone else and the values that they think you should have, it’s probably the time to say, “I don’t think this is for you and I don’t think you are for us”.
