The second book in this little series was a return back to fiction for the first time in ages (I know I'm not doing as well as I should be When I don't read fiction).

Often, I get wrapped up in nonfiction, gathered in facts and things to try and make me 'better' when what I need to read is extraordinary fiction and to help me back into the way of extraordinary fiction; I went back to To Kill a Mockingbird.

My copy of To Kill a Mockingbird was given to me by a patient who was a former journalist for the New York Post and friends with Clint Eastwood.

She's an extraordinary woman. I haven't seen her for a long while, but we exchanged books, and I told this story here many years ago.

She couldn't believe that I'd never read it. She said if I wanted to be a proper father, I had to know about Atticus Finch.

I forget how wonderful it is; I forget parts of the book.

Like all great pieces of fiction, some people like it, and some people hate it.

It gets dragged apart in different directions by different people for various reasons, but for me, it was extraordinarily eye-opening; it was a real release to read.

If you've read it before and have forgotten about it, think about picking it up again; if you've never read it or your Children haven't and they're happy to read a book, get them a copy.
