Making a molehill out of a mountain

There are some situations where it is necessary to expect the worst.

When you have a repeated failure situation and come up against that situation again, it is worth, on that occasion, expecting that the worst may happen and being prepared for that.

In this circumstance “a pessimist is never disappointed”.

In my work that applies to the complication scenario with patients.

When I am treating a patient, who has previously had a significant complication, it is worth expecting the worst and putting in place the means to deal with the worst I can imagine.

Rarely, in these circumstances, have I had to travel to that, but it makes my hand a bit steadier when I am treating the patient.
