Make a List

Written by Colin Campbell | 24/09/17 17:00

So as the story goes it’s 1890 in Pittsburgh and Andrew Carnegie is the richest man in the world (born in Scotland by the way). He’s at a party smoking a cigar when he introduced to one of the worlds first ever business coaches Fredrick Taylor and he looked him up and down with sustain.

What can this young guy teach Andrew Carnegie, the most successful businessman that has ever been?

So Carnegie says to Taylor “My Taylor, if you can teach me one thing about management that will help me change my business I will write you a cheque for $10,000”.

($10,000 was £1,000,000 in those days)

Taylor replies “Mr Carnegie Sir, I would advise you to make a list of the 10 most important things that you could do to benefit your business and start working on number 1”.

As far as the myth goes, Taylor received a cheque for $10,000 the following week.

It’s not difficult is it, just go and do the work!
