The news is dark at the minute, and it travels a million miles an hour.

What did Donald Trump say to Macron?

What did he say to Starmer? What's he saying to Zelensky?

What's happening with rare earth minerals in Ukraine?

Why did the United States vote with North Korea and Russia about the war in Ukraine?

What's happening in Sudan or in Chad?

How much of the rainforest is burning in South America?

Why are they cutting into undersea cables?

Is the weather changing?

Of course, we could go on, and we should at least have some passing understanding of what's happening in the world and how it's changing, but perhaps the most important thing to remember is that your work this Monday will probably be pretty much the same as last Monday except a week has passed.

Scrolling on our phone, viewing another universe a billion miles away that we cannot change and alter is fine as a short-time-limited hobby, but using it to take us away from the things that are right in front of us that we can see and feel and love and experience that's just folly, isn't it?

We all learned to doomscroll during COVID.

It's time to learn not to.
