It'll be quiet in a minute

Great chats today, at the end of the day, with Andy in the office.

These are some of the best times of my work when any of the guys or my friends at work come into my office later on, sit down and talk philosophical nonsense for a few minutes.

It's part of the culture of our business.

It's a joy.

We were chatting, though, because yesterday Andy asked me if I thought his book was a little bit quiet. Today, he's just put about nine months' worth of work into it from people who have said yes to treatment plans that they want to have.

I've kind of passed this stage in a big way, and I get less anxious, concerned, or worried about whether something is coming in or not.

The reason for that is that I really don't think we've forgotten how to do what we do, and I really don't think the market's getting smaller. If we continue to do what we do in an expanding market, we'll get better and better.

I know that means we'll probably be quiet again in a minute, and I'll look at that and think, 'Is it going to come back?' But I really won't stress about it or get upset about it because it always comes back, or at least it always has.

Being reactive to situations that arise can be helpful in one way or very destructive in another.

The people I respect the most in business are the people who can take a bigger, higher, longer-term view and see past the day-to-day bumps and rumbles into the distance, into the direction that they're travelling.

I would like to be that, so I chose that.

It will take everything I have to change myself from the reactive individual that I've been to the carefully passive individual who will be the best servant for this business going forward, but I will try.
