Over the past few weeks, I've met some of the most extraordinary people in implant dentistry that I could ever have hoped.
People whose names I didn't know, whose websites I hadn't seen, whose history I was completely unaware of.
People from far-flung corners of the world (one of Friday's Zoom calls is with Sao Paulo in Brazil).
It's a fine balance, though, isn't it?
A little bit like social media.
I can celebrate these people's success because they are distant and far away, and they're not in direct competition with me trying to make ends meet in the middle of an East Midlands town.
But what's hard is not to be intimidated by people who are so obviously better and so obviously more capable than I am.
I'm all for stealing like an artist when it's possible to steal, but sometimes you encounter people who are so remarkable, but all you can do is stand in awe.
Not to be intimidated, just to celebrate the success of somebody who is brilliant and whose presence you get to be in for a short while.
