Callum and I were listening to Avicii in the car the other day and I was delighted and proud that I’ve managed to convince (my nearly 14 year-old son) that listening to the lyrics of songs is essential.
Callum knows and understood what happened to Avicii which is a terrible and sad story for someone who I thought was so brilliant.
When you reference back to his music and actually listen to the words and then actually hear them, it’s almost like you can see it coming.
Avicii tried to tell the world that it was alright not to be perfect and it was alright to try to be better and then ultimately in the end the pressure of those things got too much.
For me, understanding that we all live happily never after is the most important thing to steady my nerves and to calm my soul.
I know there will be trouble ahead and likely that there will be terrible trouble in the future but living long enough to see it and facing up to the challenge of dealing with it is actually in the centre of where joy is.
Happiness is never in calm steady seas.
Happiness is embracing the challenge of trying to find the calm steady seas.
