Good Looking

My Wattbike (my indoor training bike) is in a little summerhouse shed in the back garden.

I've had a bike in there like that since 2015, about three months before I did the Outlaw triathlon.

This is a different version of the bike, but they're all much of the same size. I've evolved the position of the bike and the shed to be just right for me to get on and get off, for me to reach for things or to leave things and for me to make it as seamless as possible to get my session done when the time is short.

On my recent trip to South Africa, my wife took the opportunity to tidy my shed (my desk is in there, too) and to make it look better, and when I came back, I thought, 'Wow, this looks amazing, much better than it did when I had it in my way'.

The problem is I can hardly get on the Wattbike now, and I kick the wall every time I get on; I can't reach things, and so doing a session means more organisation, more hurdles, more barriers because we wrecked the evolution of some years to get something in precisely the right place.

Obviously, it's easy for me to put it back (although that would disappoint my wife somewhat, so that may not be a great option).

It's always possible to make something look better, but will that make it work better?
