I am getting ready to travel again today, this thing with my friends, going cycling in Italy.
I have been looking forward to this for ages but then it gets the day to pack everything up, to pack your bike in a box, get all your bike gear ready, get all the rest of your stuff ready and get finished for going. It feels like a pain in the ass and sometimes there is definitely a feeling of it would be much easier if I just wasn't going.
Then you understand that when you went last year, it was the most extraordinary trip and then you realise that the preparation for that trip must have been the same as this, and then you realised that there would have been parts of the middle of that trip where you were going, what am I doing on this trip?
Then you'll get back from the trip and say it was extraordinary.
That's when the peak end rule kicks in. https://www.campbellacademy.co.uk/blog/blog/peakend-rule
Understanding that the peak end rule is a thing before you do something makes it much easier to get through the things you don't want to do related to that thing that you do want to do.
