It’s the start of the year isn’t it, and none of us know how we’re going to make it to the other end.
Most, if not many people at this stage in the year wonder how they’re possibly going to replicate last year, or they’re trying as hard as they can to get away from last year to make something better.
Anyone who owns a business (which is still alive and not failing) will think that it will never be possible to achieve what was achieved last year but invariably will.
We look backwards at opportunities missed, at money wasted, at chances thrown away when all we need to realise is the only place to make progress is tomorrow.
On a recent visit to my daughter, Grace’s, student house I took a photograph of a post-it pad stuck to the wall something that I’ve never seen before. It was a quote from C. S. Lewis and although bumper stickers and inspirational quotes at the railway stations have a shelf life, C. S. Lewis was certainly somebody who knew what they were talking about.
“You can’t go back and change the beginning but you can start where you are and change the ending”. Let’s agree to do that in 2022 and then it might make it a little bit easier.
